Prose describes interactions between characters and locations that construct literary places. An author's subjective experiences influence their writing and its interpretation by readers similarly guided by biases.

Literary narratives provide limited insight into layered places on their own. By definition, an author selects and depicts agents using their own biases, experiences, and skills. Environmental histories and ecocentric language include nonhuman characters and perspectives, but they still depend on an author's understanding.

Representing multispecies places requires access to extra-disciplinary knowledge. Gathering, linking, and communicating this knowledge necessitates an ontology. We propose a schema that organises elements of place condensing the framework ordering this exhibition.

This schema presents an objective view of place, highlighting the knowledge gaps that limit subjective representations (e.g., creative, phenomenological, anthropomorphic).
